St. Croix’s Bruce ‘Bird’ McIntosh Gets Two Years In Prison For Selling Crack Cocaine

CHRISTIANSTED – A St. Croix man got just over two years in prison for selling less than an ounce of crack cocaine at Sunny Isle Shopping Center four years ago.

Bruce “Bird” McIntosh, 55, of Christiansted, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Golden Rock on the charge of distribution of cocaine, U.S. Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert said.

Visiting U.S. District Judge Anne Thompson sentenced McIntosh to 25 months imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, a $500 fine, and a $100 special assessment.

A federal grand jury had previously returned an indictment against McIntosh, aka Bird, aka Butch on September 15, 2015.

According to court documents, on June 12, 2014, at the Sunny Isle Shopping Center, McIntosh sold crack cocaine to a confidential informant for $300.

Laboratory testing revealed that the drugs were cocaine base, a Schedule II controlled substance, with a net
weight of 8.8 grams (0.31 ounces).

The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Task Force Officers with the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD).

It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel Huston.
