FREDERIKSTED — St. Croix notched its third homicide in eight days when a 17-year-old citizen of St. Lucia was shot to death while riding his bicycle in Estate Whim.

Jurvelle Marquell Felixien of Williams Delight was approached by gunmen driving a vehicle near the former George’s Academy before 10:46 a.m. today.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the individual was riding his bicycle when a vehicle approached at a high rate of speed discharging shots at the victim while he was riding his bicycle,” Virgin Islands Police Department spokesman Glen Dratte said.

When police found Felixien in the roadway, he was lying next to the bicycle that he had been riding. He had been shot multiple times, according to social media reports.

Medical attendants on the scene did not detect any vital signs on the young man and his body was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital morgue, Dratte said.
