No Proof Of Vehicle Registration Leads To Greaux’s Arrest On St. Croix On Illegal Gun Charges

ARRESTED: Ukimby Tequan Trey Greaux, 24, on St. Croix

CHRISTIANSTED — Police officers from the Special Operations Bureau were conducting a traffic initiative on Queen Mary Highway in the vicinity of the Sunny Isle Shopping Center when they stopped a vehicle with no registration sticker.

When officers asked a St. Croix man for his driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance at 5:07 p.m. Tuesday, Ukimby Tequan Trey Greaux could not provide his vehicle registration, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The officers asked if Greaux had anything illegal in his vehicle to which he stated “No,” but admitted that he had smoked a joint and may have remnants of it in the vehicle, according to the VIPD.

A search of the vehicle revealed that there was a loaded revolver and six extra rounds in the vehicle, VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.

The investigation disclosed that Greaux, 24, is not authorized to carry or possess a firearm in the territory of the Virgin Islands, according to Dratte.

Greaux was placed under arrest for unauthorized possession of a firearm, the VIPD spokesman said.

Unable to post bail in the amount of $25,000.00, Greaux was taken to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility where he was remanded.

He now awaits an advice-of-rights hearing in Superior Court.
