FREDERIKSTED — A heated argument between family members left one St. Croix man dead this morning in Estate Whim.
Allan Joseph, 30, was discovered in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the upper body sometime after 7:58 a.m., the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
The family told police that they heard a single shot and shortly after discovered Allan bleeding from the head, according to the VIPD.
“Jamal Joseph was disarmed and the weapon secured,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said. “Preliminary Investigation revealed that both brothers were outside smoking marijuana alone while the other family members were inside the home.”
Jamal Joseph, 24, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and he was remanded at the Golden Grove Detention Center pending an advice-of-rights hearing on Monday, according to Dratte.
EMTs and medical attendants traveled to the crime scene and were unable to detect vital signs on Allan Joseph.
The medical examiner’s office transported the dead man to the Juan F. Luis Hospital morgue.
The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched police to a shooting in Estate Whim about 7:58 a.m.
It is the fourth homicide of the year for the territory. All of the murders have happened in St. Croix.
