V.I. G.O.P. National Committee Member Named To Group That Will Nominate 2020 President

WASHINGTON — The Virgin Islands national committeeman has been named to the group that will nominate the Republican Party’s choice for president in 2020.

Jevon O.A. Williams, 31, of St. Croix also said that he has been invited by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to a Black History Month celebration at the White House tomorrow.

“He (Trump) thanked me for my efforts supporting his re-nomination and re-election in 2020.” Williams said. “As some of you know, I’ve been leading the efforton the Republican National Committee to stop John Kasich, Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse or Jeff Flake from running against our president in the 2020 primaries and caucuses. My effort includes sponsoring a resolution at (the) RNC winter meeting that would have the RNC endorse President Trump for re-nomination and re-election.

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said the team that will work alongside the Party’s Committee on Arrangements (COA) Chair Toni Anne Dashiell for the 2020 Republican National Convention.

South Carolina National Committeeman Glenn McCall will serve as Co-Chair, Ohio GOP Chairman Jane Timken and Puerto Rico National Committeeman Luis Fortuño as Vice-Chairs, Massachusetts National Committeeman Ron Kaufman as Treasurer, and Alabama National Committeewoman Vicki Drummond as Secretary.

The leadership of the COA are appointed by the RNC Chairwoman and will lead the committee comprised of at least one member of the Republican National Committee from each state. Individual state appointments to the Committee on Arrangements are listed below.

“The RNC is thrilled to announce its new COA leadership team as we gear up for the 2020 Republican National Convention in Charlotte,” said Chairwoman McDaniel. “The leadership of Toni Anne, Glenn, Jane, Luis, Ron, and Vicki will ensure a seamless nomination process as we work toward re-electing President Trump. I look forward to working with this outstanding team toward a successful convention.”

Williams is the youngest member of the RNC.
