VIPD: St. John Man Breaks Into Neighbor’s House To Assault Girlfriend

CRUZ BAY — A St. John resident broke into his neighbor’s house allegedly to assault his girlfriend about 13 days ago, authorities said.

Felipe Jimenez Caraballo, 32, was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, simple assault & battery-domestic violence and disturbance of the peace-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Police said Jimenez Caraballo broke into a neighbor’s house and assaulted his girlfriend by dragging her down a flight of stairs outside on February 18, according to the VIPD.

“She sustained bruises on her arm, leg and thigh from Jimenez dragging her,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.

Jimenez Caraballo turned himself in to police in St. John on Friday and surrendered to arrest.

No bail was set as per the domestic violence statute. Jimenez Caraballo was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

This case is actively under investigation by the Domestic Violence Unit.
