St. Croix Educational Complex Students Take Top Honors In 14th Annual Shakespeare Festival

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Top Honors for the 14th Annual Vento Shakespeare Festival were awarded to the students of the St. Croix Educational High School for Best Ensemble.

Under the guidance of their teacher, Alicia Ramos, the St. Croix high school students won the most coveted prize.

The winning students included Avision Lang, Enperatriz Delgadillo, Korie Hodge, Micaya Labadie, Nadesha Julian, Shomauri Gumbs, Jamila George, and Aniis Lester.

This year’s event was again hosted by the Nisky Moravian Church Multipurpose Education Center, and supported by The Vento Charitable Trust, Auven Therapeutics, the VI Council on the Arts, and the VI Department of Education (VIDE). 

Pamela New once again served as the Pistarckle Theater Shakespeare Scholar and logistics coordinator, with additional support from Event Emcee Jada Lark, and Judges Estelle Andrew, Frank Bartolucci, and Gail DeHaas.

This year’s participating schools included: All Saints Cathedral School, Antilles School, Charlotte Amalie High School, Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, Lockhart Elementary, Nicky Moravian School, Tutu Church of God School, St. Croix Educational Complex High School, and 7th Day Adventist High School (2018 Top Champions).

Each year, students and faculty from St. Thomas and St. Croix gather at the Nisky Center Moravian Church to recreate scenes from some of William Shakespeare’s most memorable plays.
