FREDERIKSTED — A shooting by someone wearing a mask left one man injured on St. Croix on Thursday afternoon.
At 3:15 p.m., 911 dispatchers received reports of shots fired in Campo Rico, Frederiksted.
Responding officers went to the Campo Rico area and learned that “a black male individual was transported to the Juan Luis Hospital by a private vehicle with gunshot wounds,” the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
Members from the Criminal Investigations Bureau arrived at the hospital, and interviewed the victim who said that he was in Campo Rico in the area known as “The Turf” when a masked man came towards him and started discharging shots at him striking him in the upper body, according to the VIPD.
“The victim further stated he don’t know who the mask man is and why anyone would want to hurt him,: VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said. “The victim remains in stable condition.”
This incident is under active investigation by the CIB.
