St. Croix's Roosevelt Dowling Faces Five Years In Prison For 31 Grams Crack Cocaine

CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix man admitted that he was a crack cocaine dealer on the Big Island in federal court.

Roosevelt Dowling, 58, of Estate La Grande Princesse, pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base, U.S. Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert said today.

According to the plea agreement filed with the court, on or about January 30, 2017, while executing a search warrant on Dowling’s Estate La Grande Princesse residence, law enforcement officials seized approximately 31 grams of crack, 759.5 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, 19 marijuana plants, two digital scales, and $6,690 in cash.

Dowling faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years’ imprisonment, a four-year term of supervised release, and a fine of up to $8,000,000.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Virgin Islands Police Department and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Meredith J. Edwards.
