Main Water Line Breaks At Mangrove Wastewater Treatment Plant In Bovoni

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) said that a main water line broke near the entrance road to the Bovoni Landfill in St. Thomas on Wednesday.

The Nadir and Bovoni pump stations are affected by this “force main break” at the Mangrove Lagoon Wastewater treatment plant and have been shut-down until repairs are completed, according to VIWMA.

“There can be possible overflow of manholes near Gas Work in Bovoni and the manholes in the Nadir area,” VIWMA said.

VIWMA contractors and staff have begun repairs, which are scheduled to be completed by tomorrow.

Residents are encouraged to use the VIWMA 24-Hour Hotline at 844-WMA-USVI (844- 962-8784) to report solid waste and wastewater related emergencies.
