SAN JUAN — The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch across the Virgin Islands through tonight.
This impacts much of Puerto Rico and the entire U.S. Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands.
Rainfall accumulation was expected to be between one to three inches yesterday with isolated higher amounts. These amounts are expected across a good portion of Puerto Rico. That said, the heaviest amounts
expected today are across the northwestern quadrant of Puerto Rico
in the afternoon hours.
Today’s weather is expected to bring the most significant
shower and thunderstorm potential for eastern Puerto Rico and the
U.S. Virgin Islands.
Soil are already saturated, and any additional rainfall will cause quick river rises and mudslides in areas of steep terrain anywhere in Puerto Rico.
