FREDERIKSTED — The Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture (DOA) said today it will be distributing free mulch at Estate Slob this week.
Farmers and the general public are welcome to bring their trucks to come and pick up the mulch in Estate Slob.
The Department of Agriculture employees will be present with equipment to load bins or large trucks between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Additionally, due to a pending drought and water scarcity, the Department of Agriculture is implementing a water rationing schedule to farmers in the Community Garden.
Water will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and through the weekends.
All farmers are encouraged to use water conservation practices and should have on-site water storage capacity.
