VIPD: Search of St. Thomas Man's Home Leads Police To A Cache Of Illegal Guns, Ammunition

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A 37-year-old St. Thomas man has been arrested on illegal gun and ammunition charges after a search warrant was executed at his home early this morning.

Lineras Warrell was charged with five counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm among other charges, the Virgin islands Police Department said.

Additional charges against Warrell include: possession of unlicensed firearm (automatic weapon/assault rifle), Possession of unlicensed firearm, possession of unlicensed firearm (automatic weapon, assault rifle), possession of unlicensed firearm (automatic weapon), possession of unlicensed firearm, possession of unlicensed firearm(s) within 1,000 ft of school zone/private youth center, two counts of possession of unlicensed ammunition, alteration of identifying marks/obliterated serial number and first-degree reckless endangerment, according to the VIPD.

All charges were based on a search warrant executed at his St. Thomas residence, according to VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte. Warrell was arrested about 3:55 a.m. today based on an arrest warrant signed by a Superior Court judge.

Bail for Warrell was set at $100,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
