Johnn Lindquist Arrested At Henry E. Rohlsen Airport After Allegedly Shooting A St. Croix Man

ARRESTED: John Lindquist, 47, on St. Croix.

FREDERIKSTED — A man accused by police of shooting a St. Croix man was nabbed as he was trying to board an airplane off-island after the incident, authorities said.

Johnn Lindquist, 47, was arrested today and charged with third-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and reckless endangerment, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

911 Emergency dispatchers sent police to the Juan F. Luis Hospital about a shooting victim. When police arrived, the officers discovered “a black male individual who had sustained a gunshot wound,” according to the VIPD.

“The victim stated to the officers that while at his residence the suspect, John Lindquist discharged shots at him striking him in the left knee and he was transported to the hospital by private vehicle,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said. “Officers received information that 47-year-old John Lindquist was on his way to the airport to catch a flight, and he was apprehended while boarding plane on the tarmac at the Henry Rohlsen Airport, St. Croix.”

Lindquist was advised of his rights in a Superior Court hearing today. A judge set bail at $50,000.

Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility.
