CHRISTIANSTED — A woman said a St. Croix mechanic was nice enough to come pick her and her car up in Williams Delight, but should not have pursued anything else as she waited for the car to be repaired near Queens Quarter.
John A. Poleon, 59, was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree unlawful sexual contact, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
The injured woman told police that as she was waiting outside Poleon’s auto body shop in Bonne Esperance to get her car repaired, when he began to make unwanted sexual advances toward her, according to the VIPD.
She said Poleon began touching her inappropriately and when she tried to leave his auto body compound he grabbed her hands and brought her inside his nearby home and sexually assaulted her, police said.
“On July 23, Mr. Poleon was present at the Francis Command in Frederiksted and admitted to having sexual intercourse with the female,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.
Poleon’s was bail was set at $75,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Golden Grove Detention Facility, pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
He is known in St. Croix music and club circles as “DJ Hot Wax.”
