CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police say they need your help to solve a series of armed robberies that have occurred in the St. Thomas-St. John District.
The latest of these armed robberies happened at the Galaxy Bar located at the bottom of Cassi Hill in Smith Bay about 4:15 a.m. Sunday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“Officers responded and upon arrival to the Galaxy Bar contact was made with the victims who stated while closing the bar, four mask(ed) men entered the bar armed with big guns,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.
A victim said one of the suspects went to the cash register and emptied the register while another suspect searched one searched a purse belonging to another victim.
Another victim said they had $1,200 in their pocket which was stolen by the armed robbers, according to the VIPD.
The suspects left with an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and the $1,200 from a victim’s pocket. They immediately fled the area to an unknown location.
The Virgin Islands police Department is investigating a series of robberies in the St. Thomas-St. John District according to Deputy Police Chief David Canonnier. Canonnier is asking the community to “be vigilant and report any and all suspicious activities.”
“If you are going to be out late night working, or out socially please be aware of your environment and keep as much light on as possible,” he said.
