Shooting At Floatopia Beach Event In Frederiksted Leaves Six Injured, One Seriously

FREDERIKSTED — Police are investigating a shooting that left six people injured at the Floatopia event near Fort Frederik beach last night, authorities said.

The Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) and 911 received numerous calls of shots fired at a beach event in Frederiksted about 9:27 p.m. Sunday. 

“All identified victims were transported in the Juan Luis Hospital in private vehicles for treatment,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.

The Virgin Islands Police Department has identified six victims who sustained gunshot wounds during the shooting.

Five of the six victims have sustained non- life-threatening injuries, according to the VIPD.

“One of the victims, who sustained a gunshot wound to shoulder will be airlifted to mainland for further medical treatment, Dratte said. 

This incident is currently under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB).
