CHRISTIANSTED — The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched units to a discharging of shots at the Cool Out Bar in Peters Rest about 10:22 p.m. Friday, authorities said.
“Upon officers arrival at the scene they made contact with an Hispanic male who sustained a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest, and a handgun was found on his person,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.
The victim was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital in Estate Diamon and remains in serious but stable condition.
“A second victim was transported to the hospital with gun shot wounds to his hand,” Dratte said. “He was treated and released.”
About 70 spent shell casings were collected from the scene of the crime, one 9mm handgun with “one live chambered round and one empty magazine was discovered on the scene,” according to the VIPD.
Three vehicles sustained gunshots in the parking lot of the Cool Out Bar.
This incident remains an active police investigation.
