CHRISTIANSTED — A 33-year-old St. Croix man was arrested in connection with the murder of Kelvin “Gerbil” Woodson on Thursday, authorities said.
Pernell Adulphus “Pete” Towers, Jr., is charged with the March 20 murder of Woodson and assault of another person near the Harmony Grocery and Bar in Watergut, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
In all, Towers is charged with first-degree murder, third-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, first-degree reckless endangerment, and discharging or aiming a firearm, according to the VIPD. Bail has been set at $1 million.
“This would not be possible without the collaboration between law enforcement and the community, and we thank the community for their assistance in this case and continue to ask the public for information and videos in the Floatopia shooting this past weekend,” Lt. Naomi Joseph, Commander of the VIPD’s CIB, said.
VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte released this public information to the V.I. Freep at 9:19 p.m. tonight.
