VIPD Finds Dead Woman At 'Popular' St. Thomas Hotel ... But Won't Name The Hotel

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A woman was found dead inside a St. Thomas hotel room Sunday evening, authorities said.

Police and EMTs responded to the hotel in downtown Charlotte Amalie as a result of an unresponsive female in a guest room about 8:45 p.m. Sunday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau were called to the unnamed hotel to investigate a sudden death.

VIPD Investigators gathered from a preliminary investigation, that the guests occupying that room discovered the unresponsive female in their room after returning at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene confirmed that the woman had no vital signs and declared her officially dead. The cause of death is unknown, pending the results of an official autopsy.

In addition, the identity of the female is being withheld until proper notification of next of kin is achieved. This case remains under active investigation by the Major Crime Unit of the VIPD.
