CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police on St. Thomas need your help to find a person of interest in a murder who is known to them only by his first name “Antonio” and a picture that they issued in a wanted poster today.

Virgin Islands Police Department officers responded to a 911 emergency call of a female lying on the floor at a residence in Bovoni in the vicinity of the Purple Shop about 7:39 p.m. Saturday.

Officers from the Mariel C. Command Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrived on the scene and found an unresponsive female lying on the floor of the crime scene location in what appeared to be a pool of blood.

“Officers observed damage to the upper body of the unknown female,” VIPD spokesman Karl Caesar said. “Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene confirmed that the unresponsive female had no vital signs.”

The identity of the victim is being withheld until proper notification is given to the next of kin, according to the VIPD.

A preliminary investigation from the crime scene evidence prompted investigative officers to issue a person of interest alert and subsequently a wanted alert bulletin for an Hispanic male who is known as “Antonio” in connection with this homicide, according to Caesar.

He is known to drive a blue Ford Escape. “Antonio” is classified as armed and dangerous. Please notify law enforcement immediately if you see or encounter “Antonio.”

This case is currently under active investigation by the Major Crime Unit.

Anyone having any information about this or any other crime is asked to please contact the Virgin Islands Police Department at (340) 774-2211 ext. 5617, Major Crime Unit at (340) 714-9830 or the Criminal Investigation Bureau (340) 714-9807.
