CRUZ BAY — The Virgin Islands Police Department said it is currently looking for a tourist from the U.S. mainland who has been missing for four days.
Lucy Schuhmann, 48, a visitor from Louisville, Kentucky was last seen at her rental unit in Coral Bay on Wednesday, according to the VIPD.
The owner of the rental unit called 911 at 6:18 p.m. Friday and reported that Schuhmann left her Coral Bay rental in a rented yellow Jeep Wrangler Wednesday, but hasn’t been seen since then.
She was expected to check out of the unit and return the rented Jeep on Thursday, but hasn’t been seen since 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, VIPD spokesman Kark Caesar said.
“Her rental car was found in the National Park near Trunk Bay, nothing suspicious noted,” Caesar said.
The Park Rangers were notified. Inspection of the waters surrounding Trunk Bay was conducted by authorities and no bodies have been found in the waters off of St. John this weekend.
“A search on the Park is ongoing,” Caesar said. “Contact was made with her family on the mainland who indicated that she likes to hike and adventure out in areas like the park.”
The St. John Rescue, the National Park Rangers and the VIPD is currently searching for Lucy Schuhmann, She 5’8” tall, has a slim build and blue eyes.

Two people on a Virgin Islands Free Press Facebook platform said that they personally witnessed Schuhmann’s rental Jeep at Salt Pond, not Trunk Bay, as reported by the VIPD.
The V.I. Free Press has asked the VIPD to clarify where the jeep was found.
