Boyfriend Gets Burglary and Home Invasion Charge After Girlfriend Found Dead In Annaly

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man was arrested on domestic violence-related charges after his girlfriend was found dead in a shallow grave near Annaly, authorities said.

Daivys Renaldo Vasquez, 51, of Annaly, was charged with first-degree burglary and home invasion, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The family of Robin Hitesman reported her missing and said that they had not seen her since October 4 about 6:00 p.m. and that she was last seen with her live-in boyfriend, Renaldo Vasquez. 

Robin Hitesman called the police at 6:50 p.m., on October 4, 2019 and reported that Renaldo Vasquez struck her with a machete. Police checked the area for him with negative results.  

On October 8, 2019, Hitesman’s family began searching the area around the home in Annaly, Frederiksted and discovered a female body partially buried in a ravine.

The body was unearthed with the help of St. Croix Rescue and turned over to the medical examiner’s assistant. She was positively identified as 56-years-old Robin Hitesman by her family.  

A search was made on the island for Renaldo Vasquez who was located in Christiansted and taken into custody.  

He was later arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and home invasion. No bail was set as per the domestic violence statue, Vasquez was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections Detention Center, pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

The investigation into the murder of Hitesman continues. The Hitesman family reported Robin missing on October 8, 2019, at about 2:00 p.m.
