Everyone from the governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands to CNN, hailed Donovan as a hero for helping at least two other men to rescue a wheelchair-bound Carnival Fascination passenger who fell off the WICO dock on August 17.

On Wednesday, everyone from the VIPD to the CBP was saying that Donovan was awaiting extradition on an “active warrent” from Florida.

Donovan was turned over to the Virgin Islands Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, according to VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte.

“Background checks revealed that Donovan Jr. has an active warrant in Florida and is considered a fugitive fleeing justice,” Dratte said.
