CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A 29-year-old St. Thomas man was found shot to death in Estate Thomas early this morning, authorities said.
Andre Martin was positively identified by family members as being the murder victim, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
It was the 12th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 28th in the territory overall.
The 911 Emergency Call Center received a report from a concerned citizen about 6:15 a.m. today who said there was a man lying near a vehicle in Estate Thomas area and the man appeared to have been shot.
“Units from the Richard N. Callwood and the Criminal Investigation Bureau traveled to Estate Thomas and made contact with an unresponsive black male who appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.
EMTs on the scene determined that Martin did not have any vital signs.
