CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Staff of the Virgin Islands Department of Justice demonstrated the spirit of giving this holiday season by donating to the less fortunate in our community.

Virgin Islands Attorney General Denise George said she is pleased to announce that the Department has adopted two families for the holiday in conjunction with two victim services agencies; the Family Resource Center to contribute to a family on St. Thomas and the Women’s Coalition of St. Croix to contribute to a family on St. Croix. The group of VIDOJ staff members wanted to “add some Christmas cheer to the families in need.”

Members of the Department of Justice staff gave monetary donations for the purchase of Christmas gifts and personal care items for each family. They presented the gifts to both organizations just in time for the holidays.

“We are so excited that the Department of Justice initiate the idea and executed it,” Vernon Araujo, Director of development for the Family Resource Center, said. “Our clients, staff and board members are very thankful, and the family is very happy to receive the gifts that will enable them to have a happy holiday.”

Carolyn Forno, Assistant Director of the Women’s Coalition of St. Croix thanked AG George and the VIDOJ staff for the continued partnership throughout the year.
