FREDERIKSTED — Three men seeking to fix a flat tire near Queen Street downtown were robbed of their money at gunpoint by four roving men early Monday, authorities said.
The 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a first-degree robbery in Frederiksted about 1:10 a.m. Monday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
According to preliminary police information, three Hispanic males were in downtown Frederiksted when they found that their vehicle had a flat tire, so they went to nearby establishments seeking assistance, according to the VIPD.
“As they were walking back to their vehicle, they were robbed of money at gunpoint by unknown individuals, described as four black males,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The victims stated that the suspects left the area in an unknown direction.”
No one was hurt in the incident, according to Derima.
This case is currently under active investigation.
