FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man broke into his girlfriend’s home — demanding satisfaction — and terrifying his own children in the process, authorities said.
Simba Parker, 33, of Mount Pleasant, Frederiksted was arrested about 11:16 p.m. Tuesday and charged with second-degree burglary-domestic violence and destruction of property-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
Earlier that evening, at around 8:50 p.m., the woman called the 911 Emergency Call Center to report that Parker, who is her children’s father, was attempting to break into her home while she and her minor children were inside, according to the VIPD.
“Officers traveled to the location and found Parker in the female’s residence and detained him without incident,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The officers also observed damages to the residence’s window and bedroom door.”
Parker was not offered bail as per the territory’s domestic violence laws. He was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
Parker is currently employed as a security officer with Ranger American of the Virgin Islands where he is “guarding” St. Croix’s South Shore marine transshipment center (the container port) in association with the Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA).
Some Virgin Islands Free Press readers expressed on social media that they didn’t understand the film reference to The Shining.
