Bovoni Man Arrested In July Arrested Again and Charged In Mariendahl Armed Robbery: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man who was arrested in July for allegedly illegally firing a weapon — was arrested for an armed robbery earlier this month, authorities said.

Tasheem Monsanto, 18 of Estate Bovoni Apartments was arrested about 11 a.m. Wednesday and charged with first-degree robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, second-degree robbery, first-degree assault, grand larceny, conspiracy and unauthorized possession of ammunition, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Monsanto was identified as one of four suspects in an armed robbery that occurred on February 2 in Estate Mariendahl, according to the VIPD.

Bail for Monsanto was set at $75,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

On July 3, 2019, police arrested Monsanto and charged him with illegal discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and using/carrying a dangerous weapon. 

The most recent incident is under active police investigation.
