CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A dark-colored vehicle traveling west on Moravian Highway in the vicinity of the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency headquarters hit a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway heading north about 8:29 p.m. Friday.
The pedestrian, identified by next of kin as 55-year-old Rodney George, was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance, but succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the accident, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“The driver of the vehicle remained on scene after the accident,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
This incident is currently under active investigation by the VIPD Traffic Investigation Bureau.
