CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man allegedly brought two weapons to an argument in order to resolve a dispute, authorities said.
St. Bernard G. Terrell, 64 of Smith Bay was arrested about 9 p.m. Monday and charged with third-degree assault, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
The victim of the assault reported that as he walked into the Lone Eagle Superette store in Smith Bay, he got into a verbal altercation with Terrell, the VIPD said.
According to the victim, Terrell went to his vehicle and came back with two weapons, at which time a scuffle ensued.
“The victim sustained several injuries about the body from the weapons used by Terrell,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “After onlookers parted the altercation, Terrell fled the area in a vehicle in an unknown direction.”
Officers found Terrell a few hours later and placed him under arrest. Bail for Terrell was set at $25,000.
He was unable to post bail, so he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
