FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man reported that someone else tried to kill him while he was driving on the West End early Wednesday evening — but he only sustained cuts from the broken glass shattered in the shooting attempt.

On March 4 at around 5:30 p.m., a man walked into the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station to report a shooting about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The victim indicated that he was driving west from La Grange Road to Wheel Of Fortune when gunshots began to impact his vehicle, according to the VIPD. He stated he did not know who was firing shots at him.

“The victim then realized he was cut from broken glass in the incident, VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The victim’s vehicle sustained multiple bullet holes on the passenger side as a result of the shooting.”

The victim was transported to Juan Luis Hospital from the police station by ambulance for treatment.
