Armed Robbery Near Refinery Fails When Masked Suspects Can’t Start Motorcycle: VIPD

CHRISTIANSTED — Two masked “Hispanic males” jumped out of a silver minivan and pointed guns at a motorcycle rider in a robbery attempt near the South Shore refinery’s residential area on Saturday night, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched to a reported assault near the Limetree Bay terminals man camp in Castle Coakley about 9:29 p.m. on Saturday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The victim reported that two Hispanic males wearing masks exited a silver minivan, pointed guns at him and demanded his motorcycle, according to the VIPD.

“He said that he was assaulted by one of the suspects,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The suspects were not able to start his motorcycle to take it, and they subsequently left the area in their vehicle.”

The victim declined medical attention, according to Derima.
