St. Croix Man Attacked With Machete On King Street In Frederiksted Today: VIPD

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man was attacked with a machete multiple times early this morning but is recovering in the hospital now, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to King Street in Frederiksted to investigate a machete attack about 4:45 a.m. today, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Officers encountered an adult male with multiple lacerations about his body,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

The injured man was taken to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.

“He was listed in stable condition, but was unable to provide a statement to detectives,” Derima said.

Police are treating the machete attack as a first-degree assault incident.
