CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The U.S. Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) said in a text alert that the first death from the cororavirus in the U.S. Virgin Islands happened in St. Thomas.
According to VITEMA, the patient who died was an 85-year-old man on St. Thomas. No further information was available on Monday April 6.
Governor Albert Bryan, Jr., who declared a State of Emergency on March 13 … without a curfew, said on Friday that three people were hospitalized territory-wide, with two on St. Thomas and one on St. Croix.
“All of these patients are in stable condition and none of them are using ventilators at this time,” Bryan said.
By contrast, Puerto Rico’s Governor Wanda Vázquez imposed a 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew on March 15, which ran until the end of the month. On Monday, Governor Vázquez ordered that the curfew be extended to the end of April.
So far, the local Health Department has tested 266 people, with 42 results returning positive (28 on St. Thomas, 12 on St. Croix and two on St. John.)

But data provided by the government is causing some confusion among the public.
Because Health reports on its website that the results of 18 tests are pending in the territory.
According to the site 15 pending tests in on St. Thomas; 10 on St. Croix and three on St. John.
That totals 28 total pending cases. And in the VITEMA alert, it says 18 results were pending — 15 on St. Thomas, 3 on St. John and zero on St. Croix.
