VIPD: Salt River Area Man Charged With Firing His Gun During Heated Argument With Girlfriend

CHARGED: Malik Rohlsen, 21, of Concordia Bay on St. Croix.

FREDERIKSTED — A Salt River area man is accused of getting into an argument with his former girlfriend in Frederiksted and firing off his gun to make a point, authorities said.

Malik Rohlsen, 21 of Concordia Bay, was arrested about 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received reports of shots being fired in the Mars Hill residential area about 7:44 p.m. on Monday and dispatched officers, according to the VIPD.

“Residents of the area indicated that Rohlsen fired the shots,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “Further investigation revealed that Rohlsen discharged the shots during a disagreement with his former intimate partner.”

Rohlsen was not offered bail pending his initial court appearance.

Meanwhile, many people on social media speculated who was right and who was wrong.

“Where’s the gun ???” Ramona Westerberg asked on Facebook tonight.
