FREDERIKSTED — A Mississippi martial arts instructor whose hands and feet are considered lethal weapons, allegedly broke into a St. Croix resident’s home and brutally attacked the victim with a corkscrew, authorities said.
Joshua Felder, 42, current resident of Grange Hill, was arrested at 5:32 a.m. Tuesday and charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, carrying or using a dangerous weapon, destruction to property, and damage to vehicle, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“Felder was identified as the individual who broke into a residence and assaulted the victim with a sharp object, causing visible injuries.” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
Derima, speaking to the Virgin Islands Free Press in a telephone interview this morning, said that the victim was attacked with a “wine bottle opener.” He added that he did not know if the victim was a man or a woman.
Felder’s bail was set at $75,000. He was unable to post bail and was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
The Mississippi native said on social media that he is the owner and CEO of “War Dog Fighting Systems,” which charges people money to personally instruct them in the kickboxing martial art called “Muay Thai Boxing.”
He added that he has worked as a film production owner, cinematographer with film and HD Video and as a Film Editor/Comic Artist/Portrait Artist/Pianist.
He said he attended Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi and that he graduated from Forest Hill High School in Jackson, Mississippi.
Felder’s motto in life, as posted to his Facebook page, is: “Never Give In, Nor Give Up. Surpass the physical heart and own the hurt. (-but never hurt others).”
