CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man who didn’t notice a surveillance camera watching him was arrested for stealing a man’s wallet and using his credit cards last month, authorities said.
Dale Joseph Pringle, 53, of Commandant Gade, was arrested about 9 a.m. Tuesday and charged with fraudulent use of a credit card, obtaining money under false pretenses and identity theft, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“The victim in this incident reported losing his wallet that contained several credit cards and his identification on April 20,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “Pringle was observed on surveillance stealing the victim’s wallet.”
Pringle admitted to detectives to using the credit cards without authorization and was placed under arrest, Derima said.
Detectives from the Economic Crime Unit made the arrest of Pringle.
Bail for Pringle was set at $20,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an initial court appearance.
