St. Thomas Man Charged With Assault In Gun-Butting Incident At American Yacht Harbor

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man was arrested on assault charges after he allegedly gun-butted a victim and fired his weapon at a Red Hook marina close to midnight on July 4th, authorities said.

Valmon Glasford, 22, of Patriot Manor, was arrested at 6:00 p.m. Saturday and charged with third-degree assault, brandishing and exhibiting a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

“Glasford admitted to assaulting the victim with a firearm at the American Yacht Harbor parking lot in Red Hook between midnight and 1 a.m.,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau made the arrest of Glasford on Saturday evening, according to Derima.

A warrant for his arrest had been issued by the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands.

Based on the charges in this case, Glasford is likely to face federal firearms charges as well.
