2 Armed Robbers Fire Gun To Persuade Couple On Christiansted Bypass To Give Them Their Car

CHRISTIANSTED — Two masked, armed robbers fired their gun to show sightseers on the Christiasted Bypass that they meant business just after midnight on Tuesday, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a robbery that took place on the Christiansted Bypass, at the Scenic Lookout, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

A man and woman were sitting in their vehicle, a red 2016 Toyota Corolla, when two males, dressed in all black and wearing masks, approached the vehicle, VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

“The victims heard the sound of gun shots,” Derima said. “The suspects directed the couple out of the vehicle and departed the area with the vehicle, which contained cash and personal effects.”

The victims said the suspects were young (under 20 years of age) with slim builds. They were wearing black long-sleeved shirts and black masks.

If anyone has information about this robbery, you are urged to contact police by calling 911, the Crime Tip Line at (340) 778-4950, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.
