VIPD Says Road In Front Of St. John Police Station Will Be Closed Starting Today

CRUZ BAY — To address major electrical issues being experienced at the Leander Jurgen Command in St. John, the street running in front of the police station was closed starting at 6:30 a.m. today, VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Prince Street, from the roundabout leading past the Leander Jurgen Command to just past the V.I. Legislature Annex will be closed to vehicular traffic, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Motorists are asked to use alternate routes, such as Hill Street, Frank Street adjacent to Julius Sprauve School, or Highway 104 that runs past the Cruz Bay Fire Station, through the roundabout past Ronnie’s Pizza, onto Northshore Road, according to the VIPD.

St. John Deputy Chief of Police Vivianne Newton is asking that the public bear with the VIPD during this time.

“We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause,” Newton said.
