CHARLOTTE AMALIE — When trying to pass another vehicle in southeast St. Thomas, a driver lost control of his car and crashed into a utility pole on Tuesday morning, authorities said. The driver sustained only minor injuries.
Officers of the Traffic Investigation Bureau responded to an auto collision on Bolongo Bay Road at 8:03 a.m. Tuesday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“While traveling east on the Bolongo Bay Road, the driver of a gray Honda Civic made an attempt to overtake another vehicle,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The driver of the Honda Civic lost control and collided with a utility pole. The collision caused a power outage in the surrounding area.”
The driver of the Honda Civic was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center (SRMC) for treatment of minor injuries, Derima said.
