Longtime Unsuccessful Senatorial Candidate Wayne ‘Facts Man’ Adams Dies Of COVID-19 At The Age of 57

DIED ON ST. THOMAS: Wayne "Facts Man" Adams. He was 57.

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Perennial unsuccessful senatorial candidate Wayne “Facts Man” Adams died of the novel coronavirus on St. Thomas over the weekend. He was 57.

Adams is a candidate for the Senate on the ballot in the St. Thomas-St. John District again this year.

He is survived by his mother, Doreen Adams, also of St. Thomas.

Adams, who struggled with bipolar mental illness, was a frequent caller to local radio talk show programs, who once admitted on air that he was a “virgin, and proud of it.”

He was given the nickname “Facts Man” by Virgin Islands Calypso King “Reginald ‘Ras Regg’ Martin.

Adams was beloved by people in the territory who often saw him at the Tutu Park Mall in St. Thomas and would engaged him in spirited political conversations.

Governor Albert Bryan, Jr. weighed in today on the Wayne “Facts Man” Adam’s death this weekend.

“Wayne had a gift that he selflessly shared with all in our community,” Bryan said. “His penchant for information and his love of Virgin Islands history made him a household name and an icon on our local talk radio circuit, where he would frequently call in to tell of the achievements of Virgin Islanders. He was an important voice, and he will be sorely missed.”

Adams said in an interview that he wanted to be an historian from the age of eight.
