38 St. Thomas Cats And Dogs To Find New Homes In Cape Cod Thanks To The MSPCA

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Some 38 cats and dogs from St. Thomas have a new lease on life thanks to the good people of New England.

The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said 10 cats and dogs arrived at the MSPCA in Cape Cod on August 29. The other 23 cats and kittens, one dog and a puppy arrived on September 18.

The animals were first flown to Florida and then driven by van to Massachusetts, according to MSPCA-Angell.

The MSPCA said fewer animals were being adopted from The Humae Society of St. Thomas because of the coronavirus pandemic and the hurricanes in September of 2017.

A 12-year-old male cat named Bam Bam is one of 38 animals brought to Massachusetts from St. Thomas.

The distance between Cape Code, Massachusetts and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands is 1,642 miles.
