CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police are investigating a shooting at an Anna’s Retreat strip mall in St. Thomas that left one person dead early this morning.

The VIPD responded to the Four Winds Plaza Shopping Center at 4:37 a.m. today, police said.

Five people were shot and one is confirmed dead, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Details were sketchy as the Virgin Islands Medical Examiner was still attending to the dead body at the crime scene past 7:00 a.m. today.

VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said the four other victims were at the Schneider Regional Medical Center (SRMC) being treated for their injuries.

“Their conditions are unknown at this time,” Derima said.

The identity of the deceased victim was being withheld pending notification of the man’s next of kin, he said.

The VIPD posted a tweet about the incident on Twitter at 6:09 a.m. today.

Police are asking anyone with information about this morning’s fatal shooting to call 911 or the paying anonymous tip line Crimestoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
