Police Need Suspects In The Killings Of Odonnie Heywood And Jahny Ledesma

SSHOT DEAD: Nathaniel "Shatta" Felix, 19, of Concordia Manor, St. Croix.

FREDERIKSTED — Stray gunfire killed a St. Croix man as he was playing a holiday game with neighborhood children in Concordia West on Halloween night, authorities said.

Nathaniel “Kalo King” Felix, 19, of Concordia Manor, was killed by what police described as an incident of “reckless endangerment” sometime before 8:20 p.m. Saturday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Witnesses reported that neighborhood children were playing with Felix, tossing eggs at each other as is the custom for Halloween, when the incident occurred,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “Investigation into the matter revealed a dark-colored car drove up in the Concordia Manor neighborhood and fired shots, striking a Hispanic male victim.”

Felix was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center by private vehicle for treatment, but later died from his injuries, Derima said.

He was identified by next of kin as the shooting victim.

The incident was reported as “shots fired” when someone called the 911 Emergency Call Center on Saturday night, according to the VIPD.

“We have yet another family mourning the loss of a loved one,” St. Croix District Chief of Police Sidney Elskoe said. “As I said before, we must come together as a community to say, ‘No more,’ to senseless gun violence.”

He encouraged anyone with information in this incident to call 911, the Crime Tip Line at (340) 778-4950, or call Crime Stoppers USVI at 1 (800) 222-8477.

“Remember, if you see something, say something,” the VIPD says.
