CHARLOTTE AMALIE— JetBlue Airways began new twice-weekly nonstop service from New York JFK to St. Thomas this weekend.
Governor Albert Bryan, Jr. and First Lady Yolanda Bryan were there to greet passengers as they arrived on the tarmac at Cyril E. King Airport on Saturday afternoon.
“Coronavirus has transformed airline route maps, and as we begin to see small signs of recovery, we continue to be flexible with our network plans to respond to demand trends and generate cash in support of our business,” Scott Laurence, JetBlue’s head of revenue and planning, said.
U.S. Virgin Islands Commissioner of Tourism Joseph Boschulte said the new service will help to meet strong demand for travel from the northeastern United States.
“We’re pleased with the timing of this service, ahead of the winter season,” Boschulte said.
