CHRISTIANSTED — People down on their luck now have a healthy alternative to life on the streets.
Thanks to a new program that allows homeless people to leave the streets to bathe, eat and be groomed.
The Collective Collaboration, Inc., a non-governmental organization, is helping homeless men and women to get haircuts, hot meals — and even job offers!
TCCI intervened successfully with a homeless man in Mount Welcome, St. Croix on Friday afternoon.
“We got him. He came without resistance, took a bath, ate and relaxed to some TV,” TCCI’s K. Dickenson posted to Facebook. “Trust me, my team and I we come to clean our community and restore hope to the hopeless. We are committed to our family.”
The response to TCCI has been overwhelmingly positive and immediate, with one person in the community asking what size shoes or sandals the man in Mount Welcome wears.
“Here at TCCI we have everything,” Dickinson replied. “He don’t have on shoe because he refused. This is a work in progress.”
The TCCI will be sponsoring its 1st Annual Community Thanksgiving at #33 Company Street on Tuesday November 24 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
