CHRISTIANSTED — Police say a St. Croix woman has been arrested on illegal possession of ammunition charges over the weekend.
Rasheda A. Bell, 31, of Sion Farm, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Saturday and charged with possession or sale of ammunition, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Bell on Northside Road, in the vicinity of the John F. Kennedy Terrace housing community, for traffic infractions,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “During the traffic stop, officers discovered ammunition in the vehicle. Bell does not have a license to possess a firearm or ammunition, and was arrested as a result.”
Bell was arrested by officers assigned to the Virgin Islands Crime Initiative, Derima said.
Bail for Bell was set at $5,500. After posting bail, she was released pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
Bell was also arrested by the VIPD’s Economic Crimes Unit on December 5, 2019 and charged with aggravated identity theft, forgery, obtaining money by false pretense, and grand larceny.
The charges stemmed from Bell allegedly forging the signature of an elderly relative without his consent and depositing the check into her account, police said.
In October of 2009, Bell was arrested on charges of assault and battery on a police officer and unrelated charges of third-degree assault and destruction to property in connection to an alleged incident in Sion Farm in July 2009, VIPD records indicate.
News of Bell’s arrested was posted by the VIPD in a tweet on Twitter at 11:02 p.m. Saturday.
