PUNTA CANA — The U.S. Virgin Islands Senior Men’s basketball team will square off against the Dominican Republic in the 2022 FIBA Americup qualifiers this weekend.
The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Sunday, November 29 and can be seen on ESPN+.
The USVI Senior Men’s basketball team is currently ranked number 51 in the world, according to FIBA. The Dominican Republic is ranked number 19 and the United States is ranked number one.
This is the third and final qualifying window of the FIBA Americup competition featuring some important matchups such as the one between the Dominican Republic and Cuba on the last day.
The top three teams from each Group will qualify for the FIBA AmeriCup 2021. The FIBA AmeriCup 2021 Qualifiers Official Draw was held on July 22nd in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The U.S. Virgin Islands is in Group C with Canada, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

So far, four of 10 scheduled games have been played in Group C, starting in February.
The USVI has a record of one win and one loss in the competition, for a total of two points.
The games will be played in a bubble format in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
The U.S. Virgin Islands team is made up of: Ivan Aska, LaRon Smith, Jason Perry-Murray, Jervan Jackson, Georgio Milligan, Walter Hodge, Xavier Richards, Deon Edwin, Trivante Bloodman, Leonardo Castillo and Devon Peltier.
The USVI team is coached by Donald Bough and Kevin Sheppard.
